Computacenter is a European company that provides computer services to public and private sector customers. Just like the vast majority of businesses in the IT sector, the business has always placed a key focus on the efficient management of its energy costs. Computacenter approached us after recently re-contracting its energy contracts, which saw an increase in its electricity bills.
With offices in both England and Ireland, we were well-positioned to lend our specialist expertise and decades of experience to the project. We consulted with the Glan Agua team and worked from their technical drawings to devise a design for a 100kWp PV system, which uses 231 Hanwha 425w modules. We also handled both the installation and commission of this system, and facilitated the installation of a permanent fall arrest system to make future maintenance simpler and safer.
The system will produce 87,899 kWh per annum of clean electricity, saving Irish Water 52,739kg of carbon emissions annually, and providing a levelised cost of electricity of €0.04 /kWh.
Following an initial consultation and several site visits, our experts recommended a tailored solar panel installation as the most effective way for Computacenter to manage the impact of ever-increasing energy costs. Having assessed the company’s requirements in detail, we developed a bespoke solar panel installation, tailored to Computacenter’s unique energy profile.
The result is a 2009.39kWp rooftop solar PV installation, complete with 6379 x 315w Risen Energy Modules.
This allows Computacenter to benefit from 1,868,624 kWh per annum of clean on-site generated electricity, helping it to make significant savings on its bills, along with a levelled cost of electricity of £0.02/kWh.
What’s more, the new installation also helps the company substantially reduce its carbon footprint, with an annual emissions CO₂ saving of 571,798kgs. This carbon reduction gives Computacenter irrefutable green credentials, which are becoming increasingly important for large businesses dealing with particularly environmentally-conscious international markets.
Computacenter could save around 373 724,8 £ per year on electricity costs by using this solar system instead of purchasing electricity from the grid.
This system generates around 1,868,624 kWh/yr of electricity annually.
