Founded Activ8
Ciaran Marron founded Activ8 Solar Energies in 2007 to bring renewable solar thermal energy to Ireland.
New Office Opens
New office based in Carrickmacross opened by Minister Eamon Ryan with 15 full-time staff employed.
SEAI Greener Homes Leading Installer
2009, 2010, 2011 leading installer with 920 installs in 2011 alone — 75% more than any other company.

SSE Arena Installation
420kWp solar PV system installed across 6 rooftops on the SSE Arena in Belfast.
1,448 Suntech solar panels were installed on the rooftops of the Odyssey building in Belfast city centre. The installation was completed in under 2 weeks!
SSE Airtricity acquires 40% of Activ8 Solar Energies and increases that to 50% 12 months later.

Launch Customer Resource Centre
As we moved to a digital handover with COVID-19 — we launched our Customer Resource Centre.
We recorded hours and hours of footage and now we have a dedicated Customer portal where our customers can watch tutorials and walk-throughs on every aspect of their system.

Connection Day
The first day we as a company had all of our employees in the one room!
We had our Connection offsite day at Castleknock Hotel for the entire Activ8 team on Friday 5th January. This was a historic day for us as a company.
Activ8 Energies powers up for UK expansion with Low Carbon Energy deal
Ireland’s leading solar panel provider Activ8 Energies, has acquired solar firm Low Carbon Energy (LCE) as it reveals ambitious plans to expand across the UK renewables sector.
The move for the Burnley-based firm comes as Activ8 eyes more UK commercial infrastructure projects following recent work on a £3million solar farm at John Lennon Airport in Liverpool. The new installation, which goes live next month, will provide 25% of the airport’s electricity.
Activ8, which is 50% owned by SSE Airtricity, an Irish subsidiary of SSE, is planning to double turnover and installed solar capacity over the next few years as it sets its sights on expanding beyond Ireland and becoming the biggest commercial and industrial renewable energy provider in the UK.
