Tiernan’s SuperValu in Fairways Blackrock, Co. Louth with the help of Activ8 Solar Energies and SSE Airtricity, put together a commercial solar plan for their premises in Blackrock .With this 211kWp solar PV system, SuperValu in Blackrock will reduce their energy consumption by over 172,802kWhr’s (units of electricity) on a yearly basis. Using a Trap Land mounting system and a Huawei inverter, they have confidence in their system and the low maintenance nature of the solutions used. This fit and forget approach will allow them continue as they were but with the knowledge that they have hedged a lot of their future electricity needs. So no matter what price electricity reaches in the coming years, SuperValu in Blackrock have secured approximately 172,802 units of electricity per year, for the next twenty years and beyond. These kind of installations will really help drive the technology in communities all around Ireland.

Tiernan’s SuperValu Fairways Blackrock could save around €30,000 per year on electricity costs with this solar system instead of purchasing electricity from the grid.
This system generates around172,802 kWh/yr of electricity annually.
By using this system Tiernan’s SuperValu Fairways Blackrock can reduce emissions by approximately 44 tonnes (or 44,030 kg) of CO2 per year.
The estimated yearly output of this system is equivalent to the energy needed to power around 47 homes in Ireland for a year.
This system has a carbon impact equivalent to planting around 2,024 mature trees per year.
