A 1.6 MW commercial solar PV system has been installed at Irish Salt Mines, featuring 2,240 panels and generating approximately 1,574 MWh of clean energy annually. This low-maintenance installation now provides the site with electricity while avoiding around 406 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.

Irish Salt Mines could save around €236,044 per year on electricity costs by using this solar power system instead of purchasing electricity from the grid.
This system generates around 1,574 MWh/yr of electricity annually.
By using this system Irish Salt Mines can neutralise CO2 by approximately 406 tonnes of CO2 per year.
The estimated yearly output of this system is equivalent to the energy needed to power around 375 homes in Ireland for a year.
This system has a carbon impact equivalent to planting around 9,517 mature trees per year.
